Challenge

The stats surrounding bullying are staggering, and reaching all children affected by it is a difficult task – from those who bully, to victims, to those who witness it. Empowering media-savvy students with knowledge and skills is the goal of the Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center, and they engaged JPL to create a dynamic program to do just that.

Solution

Through an ongoing partnership with the Center's website, LearntobeHealthy.org, JPL crafted engaging interactive learning tools to captivate and teach teens (grades 7-12). The award-winning work uses video to change the teens' behavior, asking them to watch real-life scenarios played out by real kids in a school locker room, cafeteria and hallway. They must then consider the options and decide: What should I do? Support, report, stand up or do nothing? Their decision is played out, enabling the viewer to see the consequence of their choice.

The result? True learning. Teachers note the positive impact on students' behaviors – making a real difference with the youth of today.
